Engine management, power distribution and data logging in one unit.

The Haltech Nexus R3 is a Vehicle Control Unit (VCU) that combines a full engine management system, a power distribution module (PDM), a data logger and a wideband controller in one compact unit. It suits engines up to 8 cylinders or 4 rotors, and is aimed at race cars that need advanced race features, data logging and power management without a box of separate modules.

Hardware highlights

• 8 peak and hold injector outputs and 8 ignition outputs (both usable as low-side drives)
• Built-in PDM with 4 x 25 A push-pull outputs (PWM up to 5 kHz) to power injectors, coils, fans, fuel pumps and transbrakes directly
• 6 x 8 A half-bridge outputs for drive-by-wire throttle and other H-bridge loads
• 6 PWM-capable low-side outputs
• 11 x 0-5 V analog inputs with switchable pull-ups and redundancy for electronic throttle
• 6 synchronised pulsed inputs for cam, speed and frequency sensors
• Differential trigger and home inputs with adjustable thresholds and glitch filtering
• Onboard wideband controller supporting NTK and Bosch LSU 4.9 sensors
• Internal 4 bar MAP sensor
• 2 CAN buses with switchable termination
• 128 MB onboard logging: up to 300 channels at up to 1 kHz
• Onboard Wi-Fi, USB-C connection and built-in G-sensor, compatible with the Haltech Connect app
