A complete Nexus R5 starting point: the VCU plus a 2.5 m (8 ft) universal wire-in engine harness.

The Haltech Nexus R5 is Haltech's flagship Vehicle Control Unit (VCU). It rolls four systems into one compact box: a full engine management system, a power distribution module (PDM), a high-speed data logger and a dual-channel wideband controller. Fewer separate modules means a simpler, lighter loom, fewer failure points, and one piece of software (Nexus Software Programmer, NSP) to set up the whole car.

About the universal wire-in harness

Built for dedicated race cars, engine swaps and custom wiring jobs. One end of the harness is fitted with the Nexus R5 connectors; the other end is left unterminated so you can run each wire exactly where your build needs it. Every wire is colour coded and labelled to match Haltech's wiring diagram, which keeps the build straightforward. Plug it into the VCU, wire up your engine following the diagram, load a base map and you're ready to tune. The wiring diagram, manual and software are supplied with the VCU and can also be downloaded from Haltech.

• Runs up to 18 injectors (peak and hold) and 12 ignition outputs, so it suits engines up to 12 cylinders or 6 rotors
• Built-in PDM: 4 x 25 A push-pull outputs (PWM up to 5 kHz) and 12 x 8 A high-side outputs to power pumps, fans, coils, injectors, sensors and solenoids directly
• 4 x 8 A half-bridge outputs for drive-by-wire throttle and other H-bridge loads
• 8 PWM-capable low-side outputs, and spare injector/ignition channels can also be used as low-side drives
• 23 x 0-5 V analog inputs with switchable pull-ups and redundancy for electronic throttle
• 10 synchronised pulsed inputs for cam, speed and frequency sensors
• Differential trigger and home inputs with adjustable thresholds and glitch filtering
• Two onboard wideband controllers supporting NTK and Bosch LSU 4.9 sensors
• 3 CAN buses with switchable termination
• 512 MB onboard logging: up to 300 channels at up to 1 kHz
• Onboard Wi-Fi, USB-C connection and built-in G-sensor, compatible with the Haltech Connect app
